1) Bunnies are Mammals

There are between 29 and 40 rabbit species. (The exact number depends on how scientists classify subspecies). Each species belongs to the Leporidae family, which also includes hares.
Wild rabbits live on almost every continent except Antarctica. From the tiny pygmy rabbit to the European rabbit (the ancestor of most domestic breeds), each species has adapted to survive in grasslands, deserts, forests, and wetlands.
3) Bunnies Bond for Life
Bunnies are social and prefer to live in groups. They should be adopted in pairs so they don’t get lonely when their owners are not home.

4) Bunnies reproduce at an insane rate!
As unbelievable as it sounds, female bunnies can give birth to up to144 babies in a single year!!!
How? First of all, a bunny can become pregnant at just 3 months old. She will only be pregnant for 30 days before giving birth. And then she can become pregnant the day after birth!
Which means can give birth to a whopping 12 litters a year! Each litter consists of 1-12 babies, which means 12-144 a year.
As a result, there is a huge bunny overpopulation problem. So please spay/neuter your pet bunnies as soon as possible.
5) Bunnies Sleep at Night
Like all prey, bunnies are most active at dawn and dusk. (Which is officially called crepuscular). And just like humans, they sleep at night for 8 hours.
6) Bunny Teeth never stop Growing
Bunny teeth grow 5 inches a year. They continue to grow throughout the bunny’s life. When a bunny eats rough grass or hay their teeth are ground down, but then they grow back.
Bunnies eat grass, hay, bunny food, and treats. And believe it or not, they eat their own pellets! Yuck!

7) Bunnies Poop a lot!
A bunny poops 200-300 pellets a day! They have to keep eating and pooping so they can quickly extract energy from their food.
Fortunately, they can be trained to poop in the litter box. Start by placing some poop in the box.
8) Bunny Body Language
Like most animals, bunnies speak through their body language.
When a bunny lies stretched out it means that they are relaxed and happy. Bunnies jump and flick their heads and feet to show they are happy. It’s called a Binky.
9) Lionhead Rabbits
As the name suggests, Lionhead Rabbits have a wool mane around their head that resembles a lion mane. They are small and fluffy, weighing about 3 pounds at full size.
10) Some Bunnies have Lop Ears
Most bunny ears face up towards the sky. When a bunny’s ears are facing downward it’s called Lop Ears.
While Lop Ears are adorable, it prevents the bunny from hearing predators and maintaining a healthy body temperature. Therefore, bunnies with Lop Ears are unable to survive outdoors.
11) Bunnies Can Purr (But Not Like Cats!)
When a bunny is especially happy and relaxed, it will grind its teeth together very softly. This is called “bunny purring.” Unlike a cat’s throat-based purr, it’s more of a gentle clicking sound. You may notice it when you are petting them on their head or cheeks.

Just like dogs and cats, rabbits sometimes get bursts of crazy energy called “zoomies.” They will suddenly dash around the room, leap into the air, and spin in circles. It’s a clear sign that they are excited and full of joy.

Bunnies have an incredible superpower: their eyes are placed high and wide on the sides of their head, giving them nearly 360-degree vision. That means they can spot a predator sneaking up from almost any direction.
The only blind spot they have is directly in front of their nose. That’s why they rely so much on their whiskers to sense what’s right there!
