Prince Fluffy Kareem

Prince Fluffy Kareem

Prince Fluffy Kareem (PFK) helps the working animals at the pyramids of Giza. They mainly treat horses and donkeys, but will treat any animal brought to them including camels.

They offer free medical care including whether that is feeding a horse for two months, x-rays, wound care, farrier work, and surgery. And they take in locally owned horses and feed them for two months, then return them to their owners.

PFK is UK-registered charity based in Cairo, Egypt.

A Glimpse into Cairo’s Reality

In Cairo, low-income owners often rely on underweight, injured, or sick horses to pay off debts. Limited access to veterinary care and farriers leaves these animals neglected and suffering.

Ignorance and illiteracy worsen the situation. The lack of local hay forces horses to eat chaff and yellow corn, harming their health.

PFK’s Compassionate Intervention

PFK works tirelessly to educate the local population on proper horse care and nutrition, empowering them to provide better lives for their equine companions. They organize free veterinary clinics and offer vital medical treatment and care to any animal in need.

Take a look at their amazing work:

  • Impoverished horse owners pick up feed daily, reducing starvation.
  • They distribute snaffle bits, replacing harsh traditional Arab Dancing bits.
  • Fleece covers for chain noses on halters are given out; nylon halters are rarely used due to Cairo’s harsh environment.
  • Clinics provide free vaccines for horses, donkeys, and camels, and treat superficial wounds.
  • Owners are taught proper treatments, avoiding ineffective local remedies.
  • Saddle pads are distributed to reduce wear from old saddles.
  • A visiting farrier holds clinics, teaching local farriers professional balancing and proper hoof care, improving hoof health.

Empowering Change, One Life at a Time

PFK offers a sanctuary for animals in need. Here horses, donkeys, and camels can recover and rehabilitate.

They either return the animal to their owners once restored to health or find forever homes as cherished pets. In cases where injuries are too severe to guarantee a good quality of life, PFK makes the difficult but humane decision to euthanize, sparing the animal further suffering.
