Key Functions of the WuWei Sanctuary Park & Rescue Center
The sanctuary shows how protecting nature, diverse wildlife, and taking care of the environment can all work together. It’s a safe haven for animals that need help, a place where they get better if they’re hurt.

Emergency Medical Care
Injured and distressed animals often require immediate medical attention. The Rescue Center at WuWei Sanctuary Park has a dedicated team of skilled veterinarians and caregivers who provide critical care to stabilize animals and nurse them back to health.

Orphan Care
Many animals arrive at the center as orphans, separated from their families due to various reasons. The center steps in as a surrogate parent, providing round-the-clock care, nourishment, and companionship until the animals are ready to return to their natural habitats.
Furthermore, every time a new batch of farm animals is rescued, a veterinarian from the Wuzhi County Animal Husbandry Bureau comes to give each farm animal a regular physical examination. If sickness is found, treatment is given in time.
The animal pens are cleaned at least once a day. In summer, the pens are washed once a week. Long-haired animals, such as horses and sheep, are regularly sheared. During winters, there is a thermal insulation curtain, and the cages are covered with warm bedding and blankets. Moreover, the water the animals drink is changed 3 times a day to avoid bacterial growth.

Rehabilitation and Conditioning
For animals that have undergone medical treatment, the journey to recovery involves rehabilitation and conditioning. The Rescue Center provides ample space for these creatures to regain their strength, practice essential skills, and build up the confidence required for their eventual release back into the wild.

Release and Reintroduction
One of the most gratifying aspects of the Rescue Center’s work is releasing rehabilitated animals back into their natural habitats. The center carefully evaluates each animal’s readiness for release, ensuring they have the skills and abilities needed to thrive independently.

Educational Outreach
The Rescue Center at WuWei Sanctuary Park goes beyond its immediate role in rescuing and rehabilitating animals. It also serves as an educational hub, raising awareness about the challenges faced by wildlife and the importance of conservation.
Moreover, visitors have the unique opportunity to witness the center’s efforts, learn about the stories of the animals under its care, and gain insight into the delicate balance of ecosystems.

Becoming a Guardian of Nature: Volunteering at WuWei Sanctuary Park
WuWei Sanctuary Park is more than just a destination; it’s a living testament to the harmonious coexistence of humans and nature. Volunteers are integral to the park’s mission, supporting various initiatives that span from habitat restoration to educational outreach. Futthermore, they actively participate in restoring and enhancing the diverse ecosystems within the park.
Volunteers often collaborate with local residents on projects that promote sustainability, environmental education, and community empowerment. Buddhist disciples around the world voluntarily rescue and release farm and wild animals to the Nursing Garden. The sanctuary offers both Remote volunteer and Live-in volunteer internship programs.
