Help Animals India History

In 2003 an American animal lover named Eileen Weintraub went on a spiritual journey to India. She was so horrified at the condition of the street animals she vowed to devote her life to helping them. During many subsequent trips to India, Eileen discovered groups that were helping animals in extremely difficult conditions, despite little financial support and against incredible difficulties. In 2008 she founded Help Animals India to aid those groups.

Eileen is my personal hero. Like most animal lovers, my first trip to a Third World country (in my case Egypt) left me distraught over the plight of the street animals. Her life has inspired me that I can help animals around the world from my home in the U.S.

Help Animals India Mission

Help Animals India provides 3 critical services:

1. Assists donors who wish to help the many animals of India.

2. Provides a means to donate to the charities of India just as you would a U.S.  charity – and receive a tax deduction.

3. Advises and guides the animal charities of India and Nepal to improve their mission and save more animals.

U.S. 501(c) Organization

The majority of countries in the world have a large street animal population and no animal control organization. Good-hearted people begin taking in injured animals and then find themselves running a shelter. Many of them do not have a website, and the only way for foreigners to donate is through PayPal.

Experience has shown that Americans are more likely to donate to a charity if they can receive credit on their taxes. So the fact that Help Animals India has 501(c) U.S. tax status is a huge benefit to donors.
